Hippo Sunday for SS#49

Sunday, September 5th, 2010
written by Danielle

Hi everyone!

I’m delighted to be here on a Sunday for the month of September to partake in the Sunday Sketches.  I just loved this weeks sketch and decided to pull out Harriett the Hippo.  She is coloured with copics – I love that hippos are such versatile creatures and look good in any colour you choose to work with!!   She is cut out using the nestabilities shapes (rectangles & ovals).  I used my Martha Stewart grass border punch as I wanted to give the feel that Harriett is in a field of wildflowers and long grass … did it work?  hee hee

To create my flowers I used the retro flower punch (large & medium sizes) with the matching papers and a cranberry dew drop for their centers.  My final touch was some crystal stickles around the edges of the oval.  I wanted a little bit of sparkle and really love how this gives a subtle touch of glam!

I sure hope you’re able to join in this week with the Sunday Sketches – having the sketch laid out for you takes so much pressure off putting a card together.  They really get the mojo flowing  … so go and grab a pencil and pad and get sketching and creating!!!  Have fun!

Hugs,

Danielle x

Materials Used:-

Stamp – Harriett the Hippo (Safari Friends)

Cardstock/Paper – 3 Bugs in a Rug, Prismatics

Other – Nestabilities, Copics, Dewdrops, Stickles, punches

Welcome back everyone to the Sunday Sketch.

Let’s get straight to the sketch!

I know I know.. the sketches are not as pretty as Bellas from last month.. but hopefully, you can make wonders with it!

And  from last week’s sketch, the WICKED (in a good way) Sheena is guest designer for this week, and look what she made!

We don’t have a special guest dt this week, but make sure to check out the next post to see what Danielle did with this sketch!!

If you want to submit some sketches over here, make sure to email me at peggy@paperworksco.com.. would love to see what you come up with!

And if you wanna guest design for us, all you have to do is play along with our sketch, and submit it with our inlinkz (see below). and of course if you do get selected, you wont only have the bragging rights to being ones of our guest designers, but a little something something from the store!

Swing Side by Side

Saturday, September 4th, 2010
written by Sunghee

Hello everybody! I created a little playground scene inspired by Rachelle Anne Miller’s Side by Side image. Who wouldn’t want to swing side by side with these cute critters!

Playground structure was created with Animal Box Car template that I designed. =) It’s the same train template that I made for the Ultimate Summer Challenge #4 – Technique.

Cut out the colored image and attached to the back of a lollipop stick.

Kit Cuteness

Ooh! I feel oh-so-very lucky to be the team member in charge of kit samples this month! The September kit won’t be available until Sept 6th, but here’s a sneak peek at the kit:

The kit features some great printed cardstock from the “Walk in the Park” collection from Echo Park Papers. The colors and patterns are wonderful! My 16 year old (who does not share my obsession… um, I mean love of paper) even squealed with delight – she loves the tree paper!

Here’s my card which also features one of the adorable new Rachelle Anne Miller stamps released last month:

The trees mimic the tree in the background of this stamped image too, don’t you think?

Supplies: A New Adventure (RAM for PWCO), September kit, Copics

Free For All!

Hey everyone!

Wow, is September an exciting month!  It’s going to contain my birthday (16th), my husband’s birthday(30th), a visit from my Dad (who lives in Texas – he’s around from the 9th-17th), Emily starts Ballet & Tap right after her first day of Grade 1 (8th), AND Em & I are taking off on a weekend getaway at the end of the month!  Good thing my ‘assignment’ for this month is Free For All!!!  Being able to just create without any guidelines is sometimes easier when you’re busy, especially if you’ve got PWCO’s PaperCard kits!  <–Definitely one of my must-haves – and a shameless plug (lol)!

This week’s card is actually one I did for the most recent Rachelle Anne Miller release.  I used Beary Best of Friends and paired it with some BasicGrey Euphoria paper & Bazzill Smoothie cardstock.  The image panel is cut using good old Nesties Classic & Scallop Ovals, and the image is (shocker) coloured with Copics.  There is lots of sparkle added, too – you didn’t think I’d leave that out, did you?!

Catch ya next week - same bat time, same bat channel!

I had not used this cute image yet from the latest Rachelle Anne Miller Release so I thought I would color it up this week and use it for the sketch challenge. This sweet stamp is called “A new adventure” and isn’t that just what every day should be? This image reminds me of our oldest daughter when she was a little girl riding her bike with her stuffed animals in her basket! Awww, the memories!!!! I can not wait to see what everyone does with this sketch!

Hi! Welcome to another Focus Challenge Saturday. For my card, I decided to participate in this week’s Creative Card Crew challenge: Cute and Girly. I had chosen one of PWCO’s exclusive Rachelle Ann Miller images, so I knew that would take care of the cute part. As for the girly, I am the stamper voted “Most Likely to Use Pink On a Card” so I knew I had that covered, too, lol!

Supplies: Beary Best of Friends (RAM for PWCO), Strawberry Parfait dp (Doodlebug), Copics, ribbon (Michaels), Prima flower, button (Doodlebug), blue chalk (for sky), Raspberry Fizz cs (PTI), green cs (DCWV Pastel Stack).

Lucas the Lion Shrinky Dink Bracelet

Saturday, August 28th, 2010
written by Cabio

Good morning and happy Saturday.  Today I would like to share with you something other than a card.  I used the fun Lucas the Lion image from the Safari Friends Collection to stamp on the Shrinky Dink sheet, punched them out with the flower shape punch, then colored with my markers.  With the heating tool,  I made them into individual charms and created this bracelet.  In addition, I made an extra charm to decorate the gift bag as well.

Here is the bracelet and gift bag set

Closer view on this bracelet

Closer view on this bag with charm.

I asked my daughter to be my model for this bracelet and she is kind enough to do this for me :o )

Stamp:  Safari Friends Collection – Harriet the Hippo

Ink: Copic Markers

Accessories:  Shrinky Dink Plastic, Chain, sack bag.

Hope you’ll find this project interesting enough to try and don’t forget there are many other stamp collections over at Peg’s shop.  You might be able to find more fun images to try for this project!!  Thanks for stopping by and please do come back and check out the other DT members’ wonderful creations :o )

August PaperCard Kit – Round 3!!

Friday, August 27th, 2010
written by Stephanie

Morning, all!

Here’s the last card I made using the August PaperCard Kit:

My dollar store bling swirl started out life clear, but that was quickly changed with a few strokes of a Copic marker!  I’m totally debating putting googlie eyes on the crab… I’ve got to see if I can find any that are small enough!  =)  I also used a Sunday Sketch from a couple weeks ago! (#45, I believe – great sketch, Bella!)

Just a few days left to pick up your August kit!
Laters!
