So it’s the end of the month…

which means, it’s the end of another kit…  We hope you enjoyed the cool and hot(?) summer cards the girls made this month.  If we had a choice, we would be making summer fun cards all year round.. but sadly, there’s no such thing… (unless we move to Hawaii)…

So as we end this month, we would like to showcase the cards that weren’t posted this month…  Again, they are equally awesome, but we don’t have enough days in the month to show all of them off lol

So from:

Tinla:

Sheena:

AND just for fun.. I asked Tinla and Sheena to take a pic of the supplies left over from this month’s kits after they completed their projects.

After 8 cards, Tinla had this much left:

After 10 cards, Sheena still has this much left over:

See.. we weren’t kidding that you get your bang for the buck with these kits!  So for those who have the kits, no need to go stingy, keep slapping those layers on till you turn blue!!! lol.

Again, thanks for joining us this month… Make sure you come back tomorrow to see what our new Sept Kits look like… it will definitely bring out  a different side (and style) from the blog team :)

News Flash; Stamps Have Huge Educational Impact!

My girls love the Aqua Amigos.  They love to stamp them, colour them (they come up with crazy colour combos, but thanks to Peggy, I just refered to her colour chart of Tommy for this card…thanks Peg…it was made so easy for me!) and then tell stories about them.  This leads to a lot of questions about the specific animal.  As I don’t have a great knowledge about animals, the web and the library have become wonderful resources to getting their questions answered.  The girls and I though you might like to know alittle bit about Tommy the Turtle;

Sea turtles are born with the ability to swim

Sea turtles can live anywhere, but the Florida beaches produces the most sea turtles

An adult sea turtle can weigh from 150 to 1000 pounds and can live to 80 years.

Sea turtles have excellent sense of hearing and sense of smell and are colour blind.

Most sea turtles are nomads and travel about 1,300 miles a day

All seven types of sea turtles are “threatened” or “endangered”

My girls and I have really enjoyed learning more about the Aqua Amigos in their natural habitat.  So there you go…an educational aspect to rubber stamps!  Maybe on that note, I can persuade my husband that I should buy more stamps;)

    Hallowe’en in August?

    Hallowe'en in August

That’s right! You don’t need to check your calendar. It is still August. You did not magically lose September and October! I was simply inspired by the golden yellow and orange washboard papers in the August PaperCard Kit to get a jump-start on my Hallowe’en cards! I was ALSO inspired by the “Haunted Tree Card” on page 46 of Sept/Oct 2009 issue of PaperCrafts magazine.

I love the texture of the Bazzill Washboard paper that was included in the kit – so much that I had to use it as a base for this card. The image panel uses the Golden Smoothies paper. To create the black border around the image panel, I simply held a piece of scrap paper 1/4 inch from the edge and sponged black ink quite heavily all around. I then stamped the Weeping Willow tree on the image panel before I masked out a circle for the moon and lightly sponged with black ink. To give a little “texture” to the lunar surface, I then sponged some Autumn Terracotta over the moon, giving it a eerie, harvest moon glow. I also popped up the image panel on dimensional foam tape (my must have on pretty much EVERY card).

To highlight the golden ribbon I wanted to incorporate in this card, I cut a strip of the same Golden Smoothies paper 1/2 inch wide and sponged black ink before attaching the ribbon.

So, overall this was an easy peasy card I just had to do to show the versatility of the papers included in the August PaperCard Kit! I’m looking forward to checking out more of YOUR creations in the gallery using this gorgeous kit!

    Card Details:

    Finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches (tent-fold)

Papers and Ribbon from the August PaperCard Kit: Bazzill Orange Washboard and Golden Yellow Smoothies, Golden Grosgrain, brad used to anchor the bow.

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, CTMH Autumn Terracotta

Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms Weeping Willow, CTMH October Word Puzzle (Trick-or-Treat Sentiment)

    Tools: Cuttlebug, Spellbinders Nestabilities Circles

    Extras: Dimensional Foam Tape
